Spring in Munich

Before I came to Germany, I thought that I liked autumn because the autumn means to me romantic.  And I like romance (but I am not romantic :D), so according to logical deducing I like autumn. The autumn in Germany is really beautiful. All trees turns to be yellow because of their leaves. They prepare themselves for a cold winter by losing their leaves so that they do not consume so much energy. I have so many times stand alone in a park in autumn to enjoy myself the most beautiful time of years. I already lied on the grass which is covered by dead leaves and looked forward to the sky through branches of trees.  That is really beautiful and I feel safe in my soul.

But after years living in Germany I do not like autumn anymore. My sensation has changed. Every time when I lied down and looked forward to the sky. I did not see a wide sky anymore. I just saw branches of trees without leaves.  They look very ugly and exhausted. And they made me think of the coming winter. It must be cold  and boring. 6 months without sun. What a boring time! And what must come, will come. Now I like spring.

Spring is cheerful. Let’s look at the trees. On the exhausted branches, many buds have grown up. They bring green. They bring vitality to my life. I feel that my life will get better. I can start everything again what I missed before. I can changed myself better for sure. Yesterday I go to a park in Munich – Olympia Zentrum. I lied on a bench and contemplate the sky. The sky was blue. Some airplanes flew through. Birds were singing their songs around me. The sun was shining. The temperature was about 20 Grad Celsius.  And a completely safe in my soul.

I made some pictures too. Hope you’ll like it.

My silverlight applications

As you can see, there are two changes at my site in last days. I added a new page called “My Silverlight” and add a new banner of Bluehost. I am learning now Silverlight so I would like to publish my applications too. My applications are not so complicated applications. They are just simple and operate simple calculations but they help me a lot when starting to learn Silverlight.
At the beginning I thought of some applications working with database so that I can review knowledge working with database and play around with LINQ. But after some first efforts to access databases on my host I found that it is not easy to do that. I must implement a Web service to allow the Silverlight accessing database. I do not know how to implement Web service with PHP and Bluehost does not support ASP and .Net. And another problem is that it is pretty easy to decompile a Silverlight application and therefore I can not protect my Web service link. I am now thinking of finding a free host which supporting a .net web service and start my projects again. The list of my Silverlight applications can be found at My Silverlight page. I hope that they can help you.
The second news is the banner of Bluehost. Bluehost is a host provider. I am using it too. I find that Bluehost is very good host provider so I would like to be their affiliate and place their banners in my blog so that I can advertise Bluehost to anyone else.  If someone clicks on the banner and buys one host at Bluehost, I will get a small amount of money. This amount of money I will use to renew my host because each month I must pay $6.95 for maintaining my host. Although I have placed some ads of Google Adsense but my income at this Pay-Per-Click program is pretty low. So I add one banner of Bluehost with hoping that the income through advertisement will increase and I do not have to take care of finance for maintaining my host anymore and as the consequence I have more time to make valuable research. I hope that you sympathize and the ads at my site will not disturb you so much.

Unpack .Net Reactor 3.9.8.0

Yesterday I made an article about unpacking .Net Reactor 3.9.8.0. You can can find it in my portal at post How to unpack .Net Reactor. In this article I introduce new way to unpack .Net Reactor. It is not the same as the ways which are used around the world now. I think it’ll help the others to find the other methods to unpack .Net assembly.

During writing this article and export it to PDF I found that there is a problem with my PDF converter. I write my article in Word and use an open source program PDF Creator to convert it to PDF. In my article I use hyperlinks to the website of tools. Instead of showing direct hyperlinks I hide the hyperlinks under the description. And PDF Creator can not render it. They just ignore the hyperlinks and therefore after converting into PDF, I can not click on the description to open the hyperlinks anymore. I do not know if there is another open source PDF converter. I thing PDF Creator is the best one but he did not support indirect hyperlinks until now. That is a big disadvantages. I have such problem in another open source software, that is FileZilla. FileZilla is a popular open source FTP Client but it does not support to get link after uploading. That is a big advantage that man must do it manually by copying the path and paste the file name behind. Sometimes I see that some popular open source software is not good enough as I expect. They try to implement something which I do need and pass all basic functions.

And last thing of yesterday is that with help of my cousin I found one of my beloved flash which I forgot its name after a long time. You can see it here, it is very meaningful. The interview with god.

The first news of today is that my soap comes back. Someone who stole it, gave it back. The way that my soap came back is exactly same as the way it went. Just after a night, it is here. :)).

How to configure Windows Mail to work with Hotmail

I just read a news saying that Microsoft allows user to access Hotmail/Live mail account with a mail client. I am very happy when reading that news. It means that I do not need to access web mail just for checking mail everyday. I just need to open my mail client and everything will be here. So I turned on my Windows Mail and made some configuration step until it showed something like this.

I can not believe my eyes, the programmers of Microsoft prevent user to use their mail service? These problems occur because Microsoft supported POP3 for Hotmail years ago and then they did not support it anymore. So the programmers try to protect their users from using POP3 settings which are not supported anymore. Now Microsoft turns on POP3 settings again but the users can not use this feature because they are not allowed to use it. So is there any way to work around with it? Of course, yes. Turn on your Windows Mail again.

1. Go to Tool –> Account –> Add new –> Choose E-Mail Account, Next –> Enter your name, Next –> Enter your email like this : rongchaua@something.com (the domain name can not be hotmail.com), Next –> Enter Pop3 settings:  pop3.live.com, SMTP settings: smtp.live.com, Check on “Outgoing server requires authentication”. , Next –>  Enter your email, the Hotmail one, for example my email is rongchaua@hotmail.com. Enter the password, Next –> Check on “Do not download emails now”, Finish.

2. Go to Tool –> Account –> Click on the new created account with Hotmail, click on button Properties –>  On tab General, at Email Address, replace rongchaua@something.com with your email as figure below.

3. On Tab Adavanced, set port for SMTP is 25 or 587 (if port 25 is blocked), set port for POp3 is 995. Both use SSL (Secure Socket Layer).

4. Click on OK and you can use Windows Mail to get your mail from Hotmail or Live mail account.

PDU in Physical Layer

Today I read a question in HVA asking about if there is a PDU in Physical Layer. The questioner read a Vietnamese book stating that there is no PDU in Physical Layer but he read in Wikipedia that the PDU is the Bit in Physical Layer. So he is a little confused to find out the answer and I will try to answer this question in this post.

PDU (Protocol Data Unit) has following meanings (as Wikipedia):

  • Information that is delivered as a unit among peer entities of a network and that may contain control information, address information, or data.
  • In layered systems, a unit of data that is specified in a protocol of a given layer and that consists of protocol-control information of the given layer and possibly user data of that layer.

Network protocols are built usually in layers, for example the OSI layer model. They have different hierarchical layers processing different tasks. Each of them implement a protocol according to their task and is numbered with a number N.
Typically, each layer adds to the transmitted data its own management information. The complete set of data and information for management will be called Protocol Data Unit (PDU)  of this layer. The PDU is the full message of what the protocol layer N implemented.
If this PDU is now transmitted to lower protocol layer N-1, the layer N should send only the data what the layer N-1 is waiting for . The layer N-1 will provide the service to receive these PDUs. Therefore, the transmitted data (the PDUs of layer N) on the layer N-1 is called also the Service Data Unit (SDU) of the layer N-1.

The idea is shown very clearly in figure below.  If you take Physical Layer the number N, the Data Link Layer will take the number N – 1.

And a small formula for this concept can be
PDU(N) = SDU(N – 1)

= PCI(N) + SDU(N) + Footer(N)

= PCI(N) + PDU(N + 1) + Footer(N)

Where PCI is the Protocol Control Information.

So according to the figure below, the PDU of Physical Layer will be the Bits. The Protocol Control Information (PCI) can be the Preamble Sequenz, Start of frame delimiter…
